Thunder in the Glens® to Take a Heartfelt Break in 2026
Dunedin Chapter Scotland, the organisers of Thunder in the Glens®, one of Europe’s largest and most beloved Harley Owner Group® rallies, have announced that the event will not take place in 2026.
This decision follows months of reflection and discussion among the volunteer team that has tirelessly brought the event to life year after year. As Thunder in the Glens® approaches its 2025 edition, the organising committee has chosen to step back – not to wind down, but to reconnect with the heart of why it all began.
“Thunder in the Glens® started with a simple idea: bringing together our Chapter members who share a passion for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, community, and the Highland spirit. Over time, it’s grown into something none of us could have imagined. That’s thanks to our members, riders, the volunteers, the bands, the businesses, and the people of Aviemore and beyond,” said Shirley Gunn, Rally Co-Ordinator for Thunder in the Glens®.
“Like most of the events industry, we have faced rising infrastructure costs and increasing accommodation expenses, which have impacted not only ticket sales but also the personal costs for our volunteers, who really are essential to making this happen. By pausing in 2026, we create the space to ask what’s next – whether that means a new format, an old format, or something entirely different.
At this stage, no decisions have been made about future locations or formats. The break in 2026 is not the end, but a chance to breathe and dream.”
In the meantime, we invite all our Dunedin Chapter members and fellow motorcycle enthusiasts to join us for a celebration like no other in 2025 – let’s make it another unforgettable rally year!
